The Olympic Committee of Slovenia supports the efforts to establish an efficient system of medical care provision for sportspeople in Slovenia.
As with all things, a lot of expertise and even more enthusiasm will be needed to achieve this goal. We are thus delighted that medical professionals developed a doctrine in this area and have been trying to promote it in the various sports and disciplines in Slovenia – currently in football. An integral element of these efforts is also the unconditional commitment to the fight against doping, which must comply with our international commitments and the latest scientific findings. I wish you much success in these endeavours! dr. Janez Kocijančič President of the Olympic Committee of Slovenia – Association of Sports Federations ![]() ![]()
The Football Association of Slovenia is proud to have been able to actively participate in such an important project as is the International Days of Sports Medicine of Slovenia conference from its very conception.
In the recent years, football medicine in Slovenia made some huge steps towards catching up with the most developed countries in this aspect, thanks not only to the highly skilled professionals, but also to conferences such as this one. I am confident that this year's conference will set new standards, and that the know-how and experience of experts from both Slovenia and abroad will support not only Slovenian football in general, but also our national team, which is looking forward to a very important appearance in the World Cup. Top sports and state-of-the-art medicine used to be worlds apart.
Too many times we have witnessed tragic incidents at sports grounds, many of which occurred as the consequence of a lack of attention paid to sports medicine within sports organizations, and of neglecting the importance of medicine in sport. Organizing expert meetings where medicine and sports professionals can exchange their experience from their respective fields is an example of good practice in improving the situation in this area, and conclusions drawn at such events present an excellent expert groundwork on which health care and sports workers of various backgrounds can base their future endeavours. I am really looking forward to meeting you all at this year's International Days of Sports Medicine of Slovenia, organized by UMC Maribor, the University of Maribor, the Football Association of Slovenia and the Olympic Committee of Slovenia, where numerous experts from both Slovenia and abroad will present their work, their experience and expert knowledge broadening our minds when we confront everyday sports-medical dilemmas. Doc. dr. Anton Crnjac Medical Director of UMC Maribor ![]() ![]()
FC Maribor always strives to be at the top, not only in terms of competitions but in every other aspect, too.
At our club, we pay a lot of attention to side activities and are particularly proud of the fact that we have actively participated in breaking new ground in Slovenia – improving the situation in the field of sports medicine. Medicine and football may not have much in common at first sight, but go hand in hand nevertheless. The game of football is becoming ever faster. Consequently, the risk of injuries, even the more serious ones, is on the increase, too, and we just could not do without modern medicine. Medicine cannot prevent every single injury, but it can anticipate many unfortunate events. FC Maribor welcomes every contribution by experts towards preventing injuries on the sports grounds; we support all such events and take pleasure in participating in them. Drago Cotar President of FC Maribor |
